Culture Resource Database

In 2013, funding provided by the Government of Ontario supported capacity building for a Cultural Resources Database that is community owned and available for all community members to share their cultural experiences. Youth and Elders gathered on the land to conduct baseline cultural mapping activities that strengthened cultural planning and ensured that Elders can pass on traditional teachings to youth for future generations. The oral cultural traditions are being shared with the youth. Some of the information was permitted by the Elders to be recorded and is stored in the secure community GIS database and public information is shared by posting media online to be shared with future generations.
